This is one of my mom’s favourite dishes(&mine too : ) ). I do it very often when I come home for a visit. Shrimps, a bottle of slightly chilled, good white wine, baguette and olive oil- does one need more from life? – ultimate path to stomach induced happiness : )

shrimps in wine

  • 400g shrimps
  • 2 shallots
  • one cup of dry white wine(Riesling, Silvaner, etc. shouldn’t be very fruity)
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • small bunch of mint leaves
  • juice from half of a lemon
  • chili, salt and pepper
  • 1 tbspoon of olive oil

The magic:

Boil about a liter of water and scald the shrimps. You don’t need to unfreeze them ear

Chop the shallots in small pieces and start frying them on a pan with a table-spoon of olive oil. Add smashed garlic and chili. When the shallots are almost glazed add shrimps. Fry them form one side, then turn to the other, then fry again.

Add wine, lemon juice, mint(chopped) and salt&pepper. Boil for about 2-3min. You’re ready to go!

It tastes great with some nice baguette(you can dip it in the sauce) and asparagus from this recipe added on the side.
